Sometimes you love coffee so much, it’s not enough to just drink it. Sweet spices and brown sugar turn your favorite morning beverage into your new favorite dry rub. Try it on steak, pork, or candied nuts.


7 pieces star anise

3 pieces clove

1 tbsp juniper, whole

1 ½ tbsp allspice

2 tbsp black peppercorn

1 ½ tbsp fennel seed

4 tbsp ground cinnamon

2 tsp ground white pepper

3 tbsp ginger powder

½ cup dark brown sugar

2 tbsp sea salt

5 tbsp ground coffee


1. Combine all whole spices in a coffee grinder. Pulse until finely ground.

2. In a mixing bowl, combine all spices with dark brown sugar, salt, and coffee grinds until fully incorporated.

3. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week or in the freezer for up to 1 month.
